Penn State offers 250+ honors courses that span the academic spectrum and typically enroll no more than 25 students. As a Scholar, you have the benefit of priority scheduling, which gives you a lot of flexibility in choosing your courses.
Every Scholar has the experience of completing a research or creative thesis, which affords a unique opportunity for individual faculty mentoring and deep exploration of a topic that matters to you.
Scholars are highly competitive for many major global and national awards, which provide incredible funding and study opportunities. Each year, Scholars receive awards such as Fulbright U.S. Study Awards, Goldwater, Astronaut, Marshal, and Churchill Scholarships.

About 40% of Scholars study abroad across more than 50 countries. Scholars have access to signature travel programs as well as the hundreds of programs offered at Penn State.
In Schreyer, you have access to a dedicated career development office and customized programming. You can make an appointment with Schreyer's career advisor or attend a workshop for guidance in preparing for your future.
Schreyer has several special lectures each year as well as a variety of smaller programming designed to connect Scholars with faculty, special visitors, corporate leaders, alumni, and more.
We emphasize what happens outside of the classroom as well as what happens in it. As a Scholar, you are encouraged to make the most of your time here — discover new interests, volunteer, learn, create, and lead. As a Penn Stater, you have access to explore almost anything you can imagine.
You can find Scholars building their leadership skills on the executive boards for many student councils and governments, philanthropic organizations, and University-affiliated groups.
From THON, Penn State's 46-hour dance marathon to fight against pediatric cancer, to Global Water Brigades and Habitat for Humanity, Scholars volunteer and serve locally, nationally, and around the world.
Penn State has 1,000+ student organizations to explore, including professional honors societies, fraternities and sororities, major-related clubs, organizations focused on dance, music, games, religion and spirituality, culture, physical activity, and many more.
Scholars can be found competing on Penn State's NCAA teams as well as on more than a dozen intramural and club teams, including tennis, volleyball, and cross-country.
Scholars can be found in a variety performing arts groups such as the Penn State Thespians, the Orchesis Dance Company, the Penn State Philharmonic Orchestra, Essence of Joy, the Glee Club, and Blue Band.
